Events Throughout The Year
Summer Garden Party
This event takes place every year usually the third week in June and is an opportunity for the whole school community to get together. Entertainment for all ages with face-painting and a teddy tombola for younger children and shoot the hoop and beat the goalie for older children. There are stalls selling a variety of items from Plants to Vintage clothing. Visitors enjoy our BBQ and other refreshments such as strawberries and cream, sandwiches and Pimms.
The girls run Year Group stalls to help fund raise and the Year 9 Enterprise scheme concludes with the girls selling their merchandise at the Garden Party and the winner being announced.
This is usually held in the Autumn term and is a great opportunity to meet new parents. This is not an overly competitive night, for those of you who dread a Quiz, it’s a fun social where parents and teachers come together over a fish and chip supper to answer questions in various rounds. Tickets are sold in advance so look out for the Parentmail flagging up the date and telling you how to book your tickets. The PTA run a bar so it’s usually a lively social event and tickets sell fast.
The Fair typically takes place on the last Saturday of November and provides a great opportunity to continue or perhaps start your Christmas shopping. There is a wide selection of stalls providing a fantastic array of Christmas gifts and produce including Lady Margaret School Christmas puddings and homemade cakes. The popular bottle and chocolate and tombolas are always a big hit.
You can also simply get into the Christmas spirit by enjoying a glass of mulled wine, a turkey roll and/or a mince pie whilst listening to carols sung by Year 7 and 8 choirs.
As well as these events being fun for pupils, their families and the local community the aim is also to raise as much money as possible for the school. Your support is vital in making these events a success by offering to run or do a shift on a stall. If you can’t be there on the day you can also sponsor a stall or why not see if your company can Match Fund any funds raised on the day. Please contact Melinda Shelbourne to offer your support in any way firstname.lastname@example.org
At both the Summer Garden Party and the Christmas Fair we hold a Silent Auction which is a big fund raiser for us. We ask parents for donations such as restaurant vouchers, tickets to sporting events, luxury goods and signed memorabilia etc. We would be very grateful if you could think about any contacts or connections you have which may secure us some items to be auctioned or put into the £5 Lucky Envelope. Contact Antonia if you can help secure donations from the local community or provide something yourself email@example.com
– there are Year Group socials throughout the year which are organised by your class rep. Invitations to PTA socials in the Autumn (drinks), Spring and Summer (BBQ) are sent out via Parentmail.
